Cake friends,
Last winter, we teamed up with Brooklyn-based design studio Social Species to make our first piece of merch: a metal band-inspired tee commemorating Sohla El-Waylly’s death by chocolate cake recipe for Wicked Cake. It was a real moment for cake culture—both runs sold out fast, much to the chagrin of commenters on the NYTimes Cooking YouTube channel.
Well, we have good news for Tabitha, Berenice, and everyone else looking to expand their dessert-themed wardrobe: Death by Chocolate tees are returning soon, plus a new shirt dropping for Humble Pie.
The Humble Pie shirt goes out to all the minimalists. It’s a mellow butter hue (perfect for summer) with a design inspired by classic receipts—only the text pulls from our new issue, not a late night diner order. We love it a lot, and think you will too.
Both t-shirts will be available for purchase at our NYC launch party at Public Records this Thursday, June 15, alongside the very first available copies of Humble Pie and the very last copies of Wicked Cake. We’ll be releasing limited quantities of both shirts online after the party too. Watch this space!
